RATES
Trade Expansion Support (RATES) program, a 5-year program funded by
USAID’s regional office (REDSO) based in Nairobi. The RATES program is
designed to increase value/volume of agricultural trade within the East
and Southern Africa region and between the region and the rest of the world.
RATES focuses on developing commodity-specific regional trade initiatives
through innovative private sector/public sector alliances and partnerships
and works primarily through regional trade flow leaders such as regional
trade associations, national-level trade organizations, private companies
and individual entrepreneurs.

FEWS NET
The Goal of the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) is
to strengthen the abilities of African countries and regional organizations
to manage risk of food insecurity through the provision of timely and analytical
early warning and vulnerability information. FEWS NET is a USAID-funded
activity that collaborates with international, national, and regional partners
to provide timely and rigorous early warning and vulnerability information
on emerging or evolving food security issues.
